Dear Neighbor,
Do you have renovation work or an addition that needs doing and you’re putting it off
because you dread the process of dealing with a contractor? Contractors can be such a
pain to work with. It seems they destroy as much as they construct at times. And their
manners or lack of manners makes having them around such a problem.
Well, let us introduce you to Jeff Maurer of J4 Design and Build. He just finished an addition
on my home on Lake Boone Trail. Jeff is different. Why? Let me list the ways:
- No crude language – No cussing, swearing or otherwise offensive language so you
don’t have to worry who he is around.
- No radios – He didn’t come to our home to entertain himself.
- Considerate – Construction is a rough trade, but he did his best not to damage our
property while he constructed other parts. We had prized rose bushes adjacent to
one wall of the construction which survived the process unharmed.
- Approachable – Many construction people are as rough as their trade and negotiate
through intimidation. Jeff is very approachable, soft-spoken, and worked things out
reasonably with us.
- Clean – Construction is not by its nature clean. Jeff did his best to keep the job site
clean with periodic clean up days.
- Subs – A necessary part of contruction, we’re afraid. Jeff screens his subs and tends
to use the same ones once he finds good ones.
- Competent – We had a very small punch list at the end of the project.
We were very pleased with the quality of Jeff’s work.
